The Central Children's Library is located in the Shopping Centre City Maribor, first floor, in the centre of Maribor. It is accessible for the physically handicapped and wheelchair users.

Since 2021, the The Central Children's Library has been located temporarily in the Shopping Centre City. The Center Rotovž is being built on Rotovški Trg in Maribor and will house the new Central Library of the Maribor Public Library, the Maribor Art Gallery, and the Art Cinema in 2026.

The Central Children's Library is primarily intended for pre-school and primary school children, but is also visited by pupils and students for educational purposes, by educators and teachers, and by anyone else interested in materials for young people up to the age of 15.

Children up to the age of 15 can join the library in the presence of a parent or guardian, who presents his/her and the child's ID document and completes and signs a joining declaration. For children and young people under 18 years of age, the membership fee and the first card are free. 

Materials available for members to borrow:

• fiction in various genres (fairy tales, humour, adventure, detective, historical, science fiction and other novels, poetry, drama) for different age groups,
• folk literature,
• specialist books in all fields (space, history, etiquette, plants, animals, dinosaurs, the human body, machines, inventions, mathematics, biology, dictionaries, linguistics, geography, human rights, psychology...),
• comics,
• sheet music,
• COBISS Ela eBooks
• magazines and newspapers,
• narrative and music CDs,
• audio books on CDs, DVDs,
• Audiobooks via the Audiobook mobile app,
• animated, youth and documentary films on DVDs and Blueray discs,
• CD ROMs,
• audio and video cassettes,
• materials from the Youth Literature Study Collection.

What can you do in the library?

• You can read, study, make posters or meet with an instructor,
• daydream on the sitting bags,
• see current exhibitions,
• use your mobile devices, use the library's Wi fi to access the internet,
• browse electronic resources,
• if you feel threatened, you can come to our premises; the Central Children's Library is a Safe Point where we will help you to find professional help depending on your problems.

For our youngest visitors:

• story hours,
• playrooms for children who do not attend the kindergarten (on Friday mornings from October to the end of April),
• story hours with workshops (once a month on Saturdays from September to June),
• winter and summer fairy-tale happy holidays.

Groups from kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, universities and other institutions are accepted by prior arrangement. They can choose from the following activities, which can also be combined with each other or enhanced with other activities:

• information literacy (searching for material in COBISS+, mCOBISS ... ),
• exhibition guided tours,
• presentations of good books,
• Growing with Books, Cultural Diary,
• various professional lectures related to the implementation of activities for young people.
