Centre for Local History Studies

It is the study and research of the local environment. In the framework of the library's Centre for Local History Studies we collect and process local history material for inclusion in our local history collections, build online portals with local history content, organise various events, set up exhibitions, and engage with local communities to ensure that our past, and our present, does not slip away from our memories.

In our collections you will find material about our places, their culture, history, heritage, important individuals, institutions, achievements, etc.

• We are at your disposal with a variety of local knowledge information.
• We are regional editors for the Styria region for the Kamra and The Faces of Slovenian Landscapes portals.
• We take care of the digitisation of interesting or older local history material, which is then freely accessible on the Kamra and Digital Library of Slovenia (dLib) portals.
• We are in contact with various individuals and organisations in the local environment, such as the The University Library of Maribor, the Regional Archives Maribor, the Archdiocesan Archives of the Archdiocese of Maribor, the Maribor Regional Museum, etc.
• We are involved in the conceptual design, organisation and management of local history events and activities, organisation of local history consultations, preparation of local history articles, etc.
• We promote local history activities in various media and on social networks: FB, Instagram.
• For researchers, we offer a paid option to enter records in the COBISS system.
