The Main Reading Room
The Main Reading Room is located in the Shopping Centre City Maribor, first floor, in the centre of Maribor. It is accessible for the physically handicapped and wheelchair users.
Since 2021, the Main Reading Room has been located temporarily in the Shopping Centre City. The Center Rotovž is being built on Rotovški Trg in Maribor and will house the new Central Library of the Maribor Public Library with Main Reading Room, the Maribor Art Gallery, and the Art Cinema in 2026.
- The Main Reading Room is open to people aged 15 and over, either by visiting the library or online. On-line registration; My Cobiss profile (My library)
- With your Main Reading Room membership card you can borrow materials from all Maribor Public Library branches, COBISS Ela e-books (A national platform for e-book lending), Audiobooks (via mobile app) and audiobooks on audio media (A special collection of audio books or audio recordings of spoken works on various sound media for children and adult in all branches). At the same time, your membership (on-line registration) allows you to use electronic resources.
- We offer a collection of books (handbooks, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, review monographs, basic literature in all fields of study) and a collection of serial publications (magazines, journals, newspapers) in Slovene and foreign languages.
What else can you do in the Main Reading Room?
- Use a computer for free.
- You can browse the Internet, electronic resources available in the premises of the Maribor Public Library.
- Use free WI-FI (laptops, PDAs and other mobile devices).
- You use the reading rooms for reading and reviewing materials, studying, learning, etc.
