The Central Library is located in the Shopping Centre City Maribor, first floor, in the centre of Maribor. It is accessible for the physically handicapped and wheelchair users. 

Since 2021, the Central library has been located temporarily in the Shopping Centre City. The Center Rotovž is being built on Rotovški Trg in Maribor and will house the new Central Library of the Maribor Public Library, the Maribor Art Gallery, and the Art Cinema in 2026.

• With your Central Library membership card you can borrow materials from all Maribor Public Library branches, COBISS Ela e-books (A national platform for e-book lending), Audiobooks (via mobile app) and audiobooks on audio media (A special collection of audio books or audio recordings of spoken works on various sound media for children and adult in all branches)
• Your membership allows you to use electronic resources.
• We offer the possibility to borrow materials by post.
• The library offers books in various genres (drama, poetry, social, historical, crime, biographical, science fiction and other novels) and specialist literature in all fields of human knowledge (philosophy, psychology, medicine, history, art, linguistics, etc.).
• We offer also language courses on CDs, CD-ROMs and DVDs, maps of cities and countries from all over the world, books on USB sticks, a collection of  fiction, documentary and animated films of different genres (drama, comedy, music, war, adventure, etc.) and cinemas (Slovenian, European, non-European, American, etc.) on DVD, VHS cassettes and BLU-ray.
• You can use your mobile devices (laptop, PDA, other mobile devices) to access the Internet free of charge via Wi-Fi connection, browse the Internet, browse electronic resources available in the Maribor Public Library, etc.
• We organise and carry out various forms of information literacy for users and presentations of electronic resources.
• We organise various exhibitions in the lobby of the library.
