Fairytale evenings for adults

For more than 50 years, the Maribor Public Library has been systematically cultivating and nurturing the art of storytelling. In 2009, the Slovenian public libraries' networking project, Fairytale Evenings for Adults, was born out of the long and rich tradition of storytelling.

The current 15th season in 2024 brings together 14 storytellers who visit slovene public libraries (22 libraries) with their stories.

Since 2017, the storytelling paths of the librarians involved have also taken them to the Slovenes living abroad in Trieste, Porabje and Klagenfurt. The stories that travel around Slovenia with the project are thus listened to by around 1,000 visitors per season, as the fairy-tale evenings are very popular and well received everywhere.

In the spirit of networking, storytelling events are also used to weave links in the local environments of individual Maribor Public Library branches, thus enriching their varied programme.
